unloading long objects, or have a few last things to toss in.

Turn mountains into mounds of dust. Mazda Tribute models fitted with electronic four-wheel drive feature the unique Active Torque Control Coupling (ATCC) system, providing the highest level of traction possible when you hit gravel, snow or ice and even in heavy rain. A sophisticated electronic control unit automatically monitors wheel speeds, throttle position and transmission, determining power distribution between front and rear wheels. It can then transfer as much as 100% of engine torque to the front or 50/50 distribution to the front and rear wheels when necessary. This innovative feature surpasses the typical mechanical systems, with the electronic sensors reacting automatically without waiting for any hydraulic fluids to heat and engage. Prepare yourself for everything.
The new Mazda Tribute serves up a powerful 3.0-liter DOHC V6 engine, supplying a solid 200 horsepower and 193 lb.-ft. of torque. All-aluminum construction makes for a low weight vehicle with an excellent power-to-weight ratio.
The Mazda Tribute is powered by a 2.3-liter DOHC 16-valve inline four-cylinder engine. With 153-horsepower at 5,800 rpm and 152 lb-ft of torque at 4,250 rpm, it is one of the most powerful four-cylinder engines in the SUV market. Its aluminum block and head helps keeps weight down, benefiting handling and improving the power-to-weight ratio. Double overhead camshafts improve engine breathing and high-revving response, which in turn improves performance and fuel economy. It also uses a variable induction system that delivers more power when the driver demands it, enhancing torque at lower revs and maximizing power at higher revs.
The Mazda Tribute i's smooth, five-speed manual transmission is standard on the i Sport 2WD models, and features short-throw shifting linkage. The shift knob is positioned high for a sporty feel. A 4-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission is available for all Mazda Tribute models. This sleek automatic transmission features "logical" shift control, which maintains a lower gear on steep inclines and eliminates the pesky "gear hunting" that most other transmissions experience on such terrain.

LATCH system mounting anchors are included in the Tribute's second-row seats (for LATCH-compatible child safety seats). Automatic/Emergency Locking Retractors (ELR/ALR) on the second-row safety belts enable the use of non-LATCH child safety seats without the need for locking clips. Child safety locks can be set to prevent the rear doors from being opened from the inside; keeping kids safely inside.
*Always wear your safety belt and secure children in the rear seat.
These standard safety features bring a world of comfort to drivers and passengers alike, without sacrificing performance or price. In a world of acronyms,
the Mazda Tribute brings a whole new meaning to TLC, ASAP.
- DSC: Dynamic Stability Control reduces driveline torque and automatically applies one or more brakes to minimize under- or over-steer during emergency maneuvers.
- TPMS: Tire Pressure Monitoring System alerts you to check your tires for low pressure, helping improve safety and fuel efficiency.
- RSC: Roll Stability Control uses both body-roll rate and wheel speed sensors to determine when corrective action is necessary.
- TCS: Traction Control System automatically reduces driveline torque to help restore traction.
- ABS with EBD: Anti-lock Brake System with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution prevents lock-up during emergency use.
Standard on all Tribute models side-impact air bags are housed in the outside bolster of the front seats, offering upper-body protection no matter the passenger's seat position. Accompanying side air curtains provide additional protection for front and rear passengers and optimum protection during a vehicle roll-over. These curtains are specially designed to stay inflated longer, due to the nature of roll-overs.
*Always wear your safety belt and secure children in the rear seat.
Expertly designed front passenger air bags adjust deployment force based on seating position and the intensity of the impact. If the passenger weighs less than 66 pounds, the passenger-side air bag will not deploy, and a necessary warning light indicates the passenger air bag's non-activation status to the driver.
*Always wear your safety belt and secure children in the rear seat.
