WHY WE RACE
Racing is in our blood. It’s what fuels our challenger spirit, and it’s at the very core of our DNA. We started racing in 1968, and we’ve never looked back. Year after year, we kept winning, but we never rested on our laurels. We continued to build cars that were lighter, faster and more nimble. And our dedicated drivers never stopped chasing perfection. This was the formula that helped us win back-to-back victories at The Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen and the Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix in 2019. Our wins are a tribute to what we believe humans are capable of when they’re inspired.
“Just that pure feel of freedom, being one with you and this machine. To me, there’s no better feeling in the world.”

NEVER STOP CLIMBING
We believe if you can dream it, you can drive it. That’s why we have the most comprehensive racing development program of any automaker in the world. From grassroots to the pinnacle of sportscar and Indycar racing, we help drivers of all levels climb the ladder and support them every step of the way.
“Racing for me is just the passion involved with it. The highs and lows are tremendous. To be on top is amazing, and just as easily you can be out.”
- Rob Warkocki

LOCAL RACING. LOCAL HEROES.
Anyone who’s ever been to the tracks on a Saturday can tell you there’s no shortage of Mazdas. You’ve got your Mazda MX-5 Miatas, your Mazda RX-8s, and a whole slew of vintage models tearing up the track. It’s no wonder that more Mazdas are road-raced than any other car brand on any given weekend. 1 It’s also no surprise that the beloved MX-5 Miata is the most-raced car in the world. In fact, the fastest growing racing class in the U.S. is the SCCA's Spec Miata class, with over 2,500 cars. That’s a lot of grassroots racers. And Mazda takes pride in supporting and celebrating each and every one of them.
"I've learned over the years that finishing last will always be better than Did Not Finish which always tops Did Not Start."
- Ashton Harrison

MAZDA RACING GOES GLOBAL
The Battery Tender MX-5 Cup is the race that can take a driver from local hero to global champ. This entry-level professional racing series is considered the best value in sports car racing, giving our passionate drivers a global stage to shine. This Mazda-owned and IndyCar-sanctioned series includes a coach at all events. We also level the playing field with identical cars forged by the official builder of the Global MX-5 Cup race car, Long Road Racing. In the end, only a few elite drivers will rise to the top, earning a $200,000 scholarship from Mazda.
THE ULTIMATE PODIUM
The pinnacle of Mazda Motorsports is Prototype racing. This is the top sports car series in North America where you’ll find the most high-tech, carbon fiber “wing” cars. And it’s where our fearless drivers leave it all on the track, competing against the likes of Porsche, Ferrari, Aston Martin, BMW and more. Our two-car team includes four full-season drivers, with additional drivers for longer races. And we’re proud to say that each and every member has come though the Mazda driver development program.
