FAQs
Yes, the Inline 6 engine comes standard with a turbocharger.
The Mazda CX-70 is a mid-size SUV with sporty style and features. It’s larger than the Mazda CX-5 and the Mazda CX-50. The CX-70 is an option for those seeking a vibrant and active lifestyle who need extra cargo space. By comparison, the similarly sized Mazda CX-90 offers 3rd-row seating and can accommodate up to eight people.
Both the Mazda CX-70 and Mazda CX-70 PHEV feature an advanced 8-speed automatic transmission for a smooth and seamless driving experience.
On select models, the Mazda CX-70 can tow up to 5,000 pounds when properly equipped with a tow hitch. The tow hitch is an accessory available as a dealer-installed or port-installed option.
Enhancements available exclusively with the Genuine Mazda Accessory tow hitch include 360° View Monitor with Trailer Hitch View and Towing Mode. Trailer Hitch View is a function that displays a top down image of the vehicle’s trailer hitch with a Trailer Hitch Guideline on the center display to facilitate alignment when hitching a trailer to the vehicle, while Towing Mode optimizes driving performance when towing a trailer to help prevent sway and improve the vehicle stability.34
Kinematic Posture Control (KPC) is a unique Mazda technology that applies braking to the inside rear wheel while cornering. This pulls down the vehicle's inner rear corner and helps suppress body roll. The technology provides enhanced steering precision and better driving dynamics, and it's a standard feature in the Mazda CX-70 and Mazda CX-70 PHEV.35
Mild hybrids, hybrids, and plug-in hybrids are three different types of electrified vehicles combining a combustion engine with an electric motor. They differ in how the vehicle is powered and how battery packs are charged.
Mild hybrid electric vehicles (MHEVs) feature an internal combustion engine (ICE) with a small electric motor and battery. A typical MHEV motor is too small to power the vehicle, but rather it supports the combustion engine in low load driving situations. Batteries are charged via regenerative braking, which also powers vehicle accessories like the climate control system. A key benefit of MHEVs can be better fuel efficiency compared to vehicles with similarly sized ICEs, even though electric power can't move the vehicle on its own.
Hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) feature a larger battery and a more powerful electric motor compared to an MHEV. As a result, an HEV can be powered by the electric motor, combustion engine or a combination of the two.
Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) feature even larger batteries and a more powerful electric motor compared to HEVs, although they still utilize a gas engine. The main difference between a PHEV and an HEV is, as the name suggests, PHEV batteries can be recharged by plugging them into an external electricity source, via regenerative braking or by the vehicle’s gasoline engine. PHEVs also have the ability to drive longer distances than a HEV using electric power only.

The Mazda CX-70 offers two inline 6 turbo engine options, both featuring a 3.3L turbocharged inline-6 with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system.
The standard version produces 280 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque, delivering smooth performance and an EPA-estimated 25 mpg combined. For more power, the Turbo S option boosts output to 340 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque (with premium fuel), offering a sportier drive and EPA-estimated 25 combined mpg.
The Mazda CX-70 3.3 Turbo models are EPA-estimated 24 MPG city/ 28 MPG highway/ 25 MPG combined, while Mazda CX-70 3.3 Turbo S models are rated at 23 MPG city/ 28 MPG highway/ 25 MPG combined.
The Mazda CX-70 comes standard with a 12.3 inch full-color center display, wireless Apple CarPlay® / Android Auto™ integration, Alexa Built-in, and available premium Bose® audio. Connectivity extends with Mazda Connected Services, MyMazda app, and available in-car WiFi and emergency 911 features.

The Mazda CX-70 offers the following cargo space:
- 39.6 cubic feet behind the second row (with seats up)
- 75.3 cubic feet with the rear seats folded flat
- Includes an underfloor storage compartment for added convenience
The Mazda CX-70 and CX-90 are nearly identical in design, features, and powertrains, but the main difference is seating: The CX-70 is a two-row SUV that seats five and offers more cargo space, making it ideal for smaller families, couples, or those who don’t need a third row. The CX-90 adds a third row to seat up to eight, catering to larger families or those needing extra passenger capacity. Both share the same powertrain options (inline 6 turbo engine options and PHEV), towing capability (up to 5,000 lbs), interior appointments, and technology features—so your choice mainly depends on whether you prioritize extra passenger capacity or a dedicated cargo space.36
The Mazda CX-70 has a seating capacity of 5 passengers. It features two rows of seats, with no third-row option.
The 2026 Mazda CX-70 is a 2026 IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK+.
