Midsize SUVs are the middle ground between compact SUVs and full-size SUVs. With seating for five to eight passengers across two or three rows, they deliver more legroom and cargo capacity than compact models, without the bulk of a full-size vehicle. That means more room for family, gear, and everyday essentials, all in a package that remains easy to park, easy to drive, and always ready for what’s next.
-
For extended drives like road trips, Mazda midsize SUVs offer spacious seating with soft seat cushioning to reduce fatigue and keep you comfortable mile after mile. Our noise insulation and ride quality make our midsize SUVs a smart choice for long-distance, combining the smoother ride of larger SUVs with responsive performance that makes the driver feel in control behind the wheel. Whether you're taking a family vacation or have a lengthy commute, Mazda midsize crossovers are a great choice for long trips.
-
While both models are midsize crossover SUVs that share our latest SkyActiv® technology, the CX-70 is strictly a two-row vehicle for up to five passengers, while the CX-90 has three rows of seats for up to eight passengers. The CX-90 also has six trim levels compared to the five trim levels of the CX-70, giving families more flexibility in both space and feature sets.
-
Cargo volume depends on the model and which seats are folded down, but all of our midsize crossover SUVs boast an impressive max cargo capacity of over 75 cubic feet. Even with all three rows upright, the CX-90 still provides 15.9 cubic feet of trunk storage.

Yes. Reconfiguring seats in our midsize crossover SUVs for strollers, sports gear, groceries, or other items is intuitive and fast. In the CX-70, the 60/40 split rear seatbacks fold flat to expose the full potential cargo area. The CX-90 uses a lever for the second row and a pull-strap to fold the third row flat into the floor. It’s convenience without complication.

Yes. The CX-70 and CX-90 are both available as Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs). These models offer electric-only range for short commutes and errands, while a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine is there for added horsepower and acceleration and to help instill confidence on longer trips.

Midsize SUVs are an appealing sweet spot between compact SUVs and full-size SUVs, so look for vehicles that maximize this “best of both worlds” without compromising on important areas like safety. Prioritize features such as automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and other technologies to reduce driver fatigue and stress in daily commutes or long drives. When it comes to comfort, premium materials and high-quality seat cushioning can make a big difference in driver experience and typically age better over time.
