A message from our CEO
Welcome to Mazda Motor of America, Inc.’s (MMA) first Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) report. Although this is our inaugural publication, I’m proud to share our many accomplishments to date…

We are committed to the United Nations SDGs
The United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a collection of 17 interlinked global goals designed to be a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and in the future.
Mazda Motor Corporation aligns its sustainability initiative with several UN SDGs, and we have aligned our work with a subset of Mazda Motor Corporation’s SDGs, where we believe we have the greatest opportunity to have a positive impact.
OUR STAKEHOLDERS ARE IMPORTANT TO US
Our stakeholders are integral to our success. We always seek to support, engage and partner with our stakeholders to advance our ESG strategy and realize our company vision of brightening people’s lives through car ownership.

Building a more inclusive workplace
To build an inclusive workplace where everyone feels welcome and encouraged to thrive, we established nine Employee Business Resource Groups (EBRGs):
- African American Business Network
- Asian American Pacific Islander
- Christian Faith
- Interfaith Network
- PRIDE at Mazda
- Todos Unidos!
- VET+
- Women in Leadership
- Women of Color+
In April 2022, we held our first EBRG fair. In 18 sessions over two days, over 110 employees learned about and joined the EBRGs. Interested in joining the Mazda team?

partnering with our dealerships
Building on the success of the Essential Car Care (ECC) program for healthcare workers in 2020, we shifted the program to include educators in 2021.
Teachers, coaches and school staff at all education levels received complimentary interior and exterior cleaning and oil changes.

Raising the bar for vehicle safety
For 2023, all tested Mazda vehicles received the Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) TOP SAFETY PICK award.
Our commitments to ESG
We focus our ESG initiatives on caring for the earth, its people and society.
We are committed to creating a sustainable future—one in which people and vehicles coexist with the environment, resilient communities come together to form a healthy society and good management inspires trust and confidence among all our stakeholders.

It’s all about the Earth
Through our focus on the Earth, we aim to deliver a sustainable automotive future in which people and vehicles can coexist with a healthy planet.
Mazda Motor Corporation is committed to carbon neutrality for the entire lifecycle of its vehicles and its entire supply chain by 2050. Mazda Motor Corporation will aim to achieve carbon neutrality at its factories worldwide by 2035. We are excited to work toward this goal within the U.S. operations in collaboration with our counterparts across the world.

People are at the core of what we do
We celebrate diversity and believe in the power of human capability and ingenuity.
From focusing on inclusive leadership to creating an environment of trust and belonging, our Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility (IDEA) Strategy helps us live out our commitment and guides our efforts to create a welcoming workplace for all. Read more in our 2022 ESG Report.

What we’re doing for society
At Mazda, we are committed to developing healthy, resilient communities where people can enjoy unrestricted mobility.
The Mazda Foundation awarded funding to 11 organizations through its yearly grant-giving process.
The awards will fund four new programs as the Mazda Foundation continues to build partnerships with organizations across the United States to help address food insecurity and some of its many root causes—particularly equitable access to education and job opportunities. To date, the Mazda Foundation has contributed nearly $15 million to various programs and causes that positively impact our neighbors and their families.

Good management is the base of our work
We believe that good governance and a strong relationship of trust with our stakeholders are the keys to a robust business.
This past year, we formalized our focus and commitment to ESG through the development of our three-year ESG strategy.
WE USE THE 2021 GLOBAL REPORTING INITIATIVE (GRI) STANDARDS.
