HUMAN-CENTRIC DESIGN PUTS THE DRIVER IN CONTROL
Mazda is obsessed with creating a feeling of connection between car and driver; a connection that helps ensure the car responds precisely and intuitively, giving drivers the exhilaration of control with the confidence that helps keep them fully relaxed.
To create a seamless connection with the vehicle, Mazda engineers closely study human traits and maintain trust in the innate abilities of the human body. Instead of forcing humans to adapt to a vehicle, Mazda builds its vehicles around humans. Mazda calls this human-centric engineering, and it is a hallmark of the all-new Mazda3.
“We take a human-centric approach–where the driver feels oneness with the car, as if it is an extension of their body,” said Masahiro Moro, president and CEO, Mazda North American Operations. “Just as a rider is connected to their horse. A driver trusts that their car is intuitive and responsive. On the road, the driver feels naturally positioned and perfectly balanced for a profoundly pleasurable driving experience.” Mazda’s human-centric engineering approach starts from a deep study of human physiology and movement, focusing on the human’s body’s amazing ability to balance itself. In the all-new Mazda3, Mazda designers built the seat and driving position to put the body in the most natural posture to react to the movements of the car. Then they designed the car to move in a way that feels natural by matching best human movement.

DRIVER-ORIENTED COCKPIT
To strengthen the connection between the car and driver, every element of the cockpit in the all-new Mazda3 is designed to directly face the driver and help emphasize a driver-centered axis that runs from the front to the rear of the vehicle. Furthermore, the interior incorporates the “less is more” ideal that is a key to the new Mazda3’s evolved KODO Design. Keeping all elements as simple as possible helps amplify the presence of the cockpit zone. Altogether, this creates an environment in which the car and driver engage in a natural dialogue that enables the driver to focus on the task of driving.
THE AUDIO EXPERIENCE
The audio system in the all-new Mazda3 is an important element for creating a connection between the car and driver. Mazda’s audio engineers started working with the body and interior teams early in the development process to create a system that takes audio quality to a new level. They placed each speaker in the ideal location to maximize the frequency response and performance, while also providing a more natural listening experience. This ensures an enjoyable experience regardless of volume level or music genre.
By relentlessly focusing on the connection between car and driver, the all-new Mazda3 establishes new level of precise and intuitive control that will make any drive fun and will raise the bar in the compact car segment.
