Lake Tahoe, California is known for its dynamic year-round beauty, impressive mountain range and vast trail systems—making it an idyllic location for winter sports enthusiasts, adventurers, and artists alike.
With that in mind, Mazda invited five artists with a passion for the outdoors to Lake Tahoe to see how their creative passions could come to life in the 2023 CX-50.

After a day of guided backcountry skiing and adventure in the mountains surrounding Lake Tahoe, the artists loaded their work into CX-50s and headed to Alpenglow Gallery. There, each artist displayed a collection of work celebrating nature and exploration.
MEET THE ARTISTS
Bryn Merrell
Spending most of her free time outdoors, Bryn creates a playful and whimsical interpretation of her surroundings through watercolor and ink. Many of her patterns and landscapes are reflections of her roots in Arizona, along with the cultural and natural influence of her current home in Tahoe City, California.
Jessa Gilbert
Jessa is a talented artist and snowboarder, and the outdoors shapes every piece of art she produces. Her art showcases the flowing lines that skiers and riders take down the mountain and incorporate them into landscape and action art pieces.
John Fellows
John Fellows is a Crested Butte, Colorado based artist and designer whose signature “contemporary folk” style weaves together hand carved linoleum block prints, layers of found paper and handwritten text to create an old time, hands-on feel but with a graphic modern look. He draws inspiration from his travels and adventures around the world.
Jeremy Collins
Known for his complex, cerebral and whimsical drawings, as well as maps featured in his books, films and commercial work, Jeremey is a driving force within the outdoor industry. From the cover of magazines to his own clothing line—Meridian Line—it’s no wonder the industry awarded him “Most Inspirational Individual.”
lamont white
Lamont’s art is focused on inclusion and diversity, creating representation in commonly underrepresented spaces. Having illustrated ad campaigns and editorials for major winter and outdoor brands, Lamont’s ongoing creative pursuits have included fine art exhibits, illustration, graphic design and product development across multiple industries.
