As the premier outdoor-focused film festival in the United States, 5Point is a celebration of creativity and nature that draws filmmakers and outdoor enthusiasts from around the world.
For a few days every spring, Carbondale, Colorado transforms as film screenings, panel discussions, outdoor excursions and community service envelop the town.

In creating the first-ever CX-50, Mazda sought to craft something that would inspire people to spend more time in nature. Experiences in the outdoors have a unique ability to fuel our curiosity and invigorate our creativity.

SEEKING MEANINGFUL ADVENTURE
At its core, 5Point believes that communities are made better when their people pursue adventure and intentionally live their own best story. The film festival is on a mission to ignite personal and communal discovery of all kinds through the experience of sharing meaningful stories.

STORIES THAT MATTER
The film festival entries, with their deep reverence for nature captured within the beauty of film, align perfectly with Mazda’s belief that we are more human in nature and that nature inspires creativity. Mazda is proud to have sponsored this celebration of wonder, beauty, and adventure.
PURE JOY RECIPIENT
A story about a rock climber’s inner conflict was one of the films that took home 5Point’s Pure Joy award, an honor bestowed on films that “put a smile on your face.”
"BIG THINGS TO COME"
In her film, “Big Things to Come,” professional rock climber Alex Johnson set a goal to climb what would have been the hardest solo boulder climb accomplished by a woman. Despite sharing about this goal, and her attempts, on social media, no one knew that she was also facing a more personal challenge.
For Alex, the beauty of nature and the complexity of her goal afforded her meaningful time and solitude. Ultimately, her efforts to best the boulder gave Alex the courage to come out to her friends and family.
“I just was staring up at this boulder, trying to figure out who I am,” she says. “I was staring at how big the mountains where, and how small the boulder was compared to the mountains, then how small I was compared to the bolder. Me coming out? Why not.”
“I was the most vulnerable out in the mountains by myself trying this climb alone over and over again,” shares Alex. “You are your most raw, real, authentic self in nature, and I think that’s as human as it gets.”

INSPIRING OTHERS TO JOIN THE ADVENTURE
While at 5Point, Mazda invited content creators Cody and Victoria Blue to be some of the first people to drive the CX-50 in North America. For them, the vehicle and the film festival are a natural extension of their own commitment to time spent outdoors.
“We're just people who like to spend more of our time outside than we would ever want to spend inside,” says Cody.
The couple, who makes outdoor films on YouTube, has a deep appreciation for time spent in nature. “We hope that when people watch our films they're inspired and encouraged to get outside,” shares Victoria.
Cody and Victoria captured the creativity and appreciation for nature shared by Mazda’s CX-50 and 5Point Adventure Film Festival. From biking the trails around Carbondale to watching films, they’re bringing you along for the ride.
