CX-50 features i-Activ All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) as standard. i-Activ AWD® provides functionality beyond that of a typical 4WD or AWD system. Unlike basic AWD systems that react to a spinning wheel, i-Activ AWD® is always engaged and proactively monitors vehicle dynamics data in real-time to watch for variations in wheel loads that a driver may not notice. The system then automatically controls the distribution of torque to provide predictable handling when driving on unpaved roads or in difficult conditions.30

The Mazda CX-50 offers between 8.3-8.6 inches of ground clearance, depending on the model and standard wheel size.

The Mazda CX-50, like all Mazda crossover SUVs — features our i-Activ AWD®.

Additionally, CX-50 adds Mazda Intelligent Drive Select (Mi-Drive) technology that allows you to switch between drive modes for optimized traction and responsiveness. Mazda CX-50 supports four drive modes: Normal, Sport, Off-Road and available Towing. So your vehicle can adapt to almost any situation.

Our i-Activ AWD® technology proactively monitors vehicle dynamics data and adjusts the distribution of torque to maximize performance in nearly any conditions. The system also works in tandem with our G-Vectoring Control Plus technology, which responds to steering inputs and makes subtle braking and torque adjustments to enhance vehicle stability.31

When properly equipped with a genuine Mazda Tow Hitch, Mazda CX-50 2.5 S models have a towing capacity of up to 2,000 lbs. The more powerful CX-50 2.5 Turbo models have a towing capacity up to 3,500 lbs when Towing Mode is engaged.32

The Mazda CX-50 was purposely designed to optimize cargo space with a flush floor liftgate opening to make loading and unloading gear easier. And Mazda CX-50 models feature ample cargo room, with 31.4 cu ft of cargo space behind the 2nd-row seatbacks or up to 56.3 cubic ft when 2nd-row seatbacks are folded.

You can customize your Mazda CX-50 with accessories for Lifestyle, Appearance, and Function. Available accessories include things like Roof Rack Crossbars, a Cargo Box, various roof carriers and attachments, a Trailer Hitch, and more that you can learn about on the Mazda CX-50 Accessories page.

Remote Engine Start is a feature of Mazda Connected Services (MCS).  Once a CX-50 has been registered with MCS via the MyMazda app, owners will have access to a variety of information and remote services, including Remote Engine Start.  A one-year trial subscription (monthly subscription fees thereafter) to MCS is included with the purchase of every new 2026 Mazda CX-50.33

The Mazda CX-50 is a 2026 IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK+ and comes equipped with several safety features to enhance the driver's awareness and protect the well-being of passengers. Notable safety features that come standard on all Mazda CX-50 include Smart Brake Support, Blind Spot Monitoring, Lane-keep Assist, and others. Visit www.iihs.org to learn more.
